yap yap how on earth could those two topics ever be related must be what's running through my mind. but hey thats just how its panned out...see, yesterday i went for a wedding committee. it was the last of these meetings seeing as the wedding is scheduled for this saturday.
Now, i (we, the bride's girlfriends) have committed a great error in gal-dom world.we totally forgot about the bridal shower. true true. No, not attending it. Planning it. As in this bride will not have a bridal shower. is it a big deal? am still pondering about that. Personally, it totally didn't even cross me bloody mind. but to get this right, there are degrees of friendship ,no? like your innermost circle is in the first degree etc etc. For me, our friendship was borne in campus - while pursuing our MBAs. We just kinda clicked, you know, those gals that you dont necessarily talk to daily or even weekly but you gel. Ours was purely (ok, clearly not really) an academic relationship if i can call it that. Assignments were fed off each other, we both were superallergic to mwakenyas and generally revered school...but thats as far as the similarities get. i was quite the party gal ,she the home gal. i the perennial singleton, she'd been dating same dude for 5years - he's the lucky groom hurrah!! Outside the classroom, we just weren't it.
When i wanted to move out of home, she egged me on. Even got me a crib right next to her when it fell vacant. One year down the line, am still a tenant there, she moved out some 6 months ago. In this Nairobi of ours, that crib is a good bargain. I owe her. So does that qualify me as her first degree posse? Maybe, or not. So am in the committee, the secretary. She's the first of my nth degree friends to wed. None of my first degree gals have done it before so how would i know????So last Saturday, when her colleague called me to query about it i was lost for words. The said bride-to be had travelled to her rural home to be back on sunday evening. So we agreed that we would chart the way forward during the yesterdays meeting. Then just a handful of us show up. And the bride still has a lot to do in just today, tomorrow and friday. OK scratch that bridal shower already!!
Am not one for hurriedly put up dos. not that i aint spontaneous but really, road trip check. night out check. but a bridal shower? spontaneous not. there are some things in this lifetime, they've got to be memorable.and in a good way. so this bride will not have a bridal shower but it wasn't intentional. and on our way home after the meeting yesterday, i 'explained' that there wouldn't be one and she took it well. erm...i think.
these job sites, best jobs in specific, do guys ever get jobs through them? i mean they've sent me a gazillion job alerts but ive never received a response to the gazillion application ive sent. when i got to the office this morning, i opened my mail first thing as usual and they'd sent me another alert. at the back of my mind i'd planned to write about that bridal shower...
